Town Of Hurley, New York
The Town of Hurley located inside the Catskill Park area of Ulster County and referred to as Old Hurley and West Hurley by locals. Most of the original town can be found under the waters of the New York City reservoir called the Ashokan.
In Hurley the Ulster County Real Estate market is driven by farms, vacationers, second homes, small business, the City of Kingston and resorts. A large portion of West Hurley was created by employees of IBM, they found the country setting and the ease of commuting to Kingston a plus during the period of 1950 to 1980.
The town was first settled around 1661 by Peter Stuyvesant. During the American Revolution Hurley served as a military headquarters and a temporary state capital.
